Frequently asked questions

Do I need any technical skills?
No. If you can copy and paste your FTP details, the tool does the rest. The free scan needs nothing but your web address.
Is my password safe?
Yes. It’s encrypted while in use, never written to disk in readable form, never logged, and wiped when you disconnect. See Is it safe? and Security details.
Will it download or copy my website?
It does not retain a copy of your site. It reads selected configuration, log, plugin, theme, and core files as needed; snapshots copy selected code files through the service's memory and back onto your own server. The optional emergency-admin feature can create or promote a WordPress user.
Could it make things worse?
Supported file replacements use verified backups on your own server. Folder renames and created helper files are tracked for Undo. If an undo step fails, its recovery record remains available to retry.
What does the token do?
It’s your proof of purchase and unlocks repairs for one website. The first site you use it on is the only site it will work for.
Does the vendor see my payment details when I pay through PayPal?
No. Your card or bank-account numbers stay with PayPal and are never shown to or stored by the vendor. PayPal may provide limited receipt information such as your name, email, and payment status.
Can I use one token on several sites?
No — one token, one website. Need to fix more than one site? Buy a token for each.
My host only offers SFTP, not FTP. Will it work?
Yes. Choose SFTP (SSH) and use the SFTP host, port (usually 22), username, and password supplied by your host.
It says it can’t find WordPress. Why?
Your FTP account may be pointing at the wrong folder, or WordPress is installed in a subfolder. Make sure the account can see the folder containing wp-load.php.
It found a database connection error. Can it fix that?
It can read your settings and tell you what looks wrong, but database problems usually need your host’s control panel. We’ll point you in the right direction.
What happens to the backup folder?
It stays on your server in wp-repair-backups. Once your site is working and you’re happy, you can delete it.
Do you keep access to my site afterward?
No. The tool installs nothing and has no way to reconnect. For total certainty, use a temporary FTP account and delete it when done.
What if it can’t fix my site?
It will tell you honestly and explain what it found. See our guarantee & refunds policy.
